Today at Braheim's public school in Aourir was a truly special day. We co-taught a few classes with Brahiem focused on rights vs. duties as a citizen. For the third hour Braheim taught a Dolly Parton song "But you know that I love you" to his students to help with their vocabulary. In the same hour some of the students who had brought us milk and dates on Saturday brought Mike and I a wonderful selection of local specialities including honey with the honey comb, olive oil, dates, olives, little sweet treats and mint tea as a gift of breakfast. The students were incredibly sweet. Many of the students gave us little gifts such as their art work and bracelets. Also, Facebook is pervasive here and all of them wanted to be "friends." It was an overwhelming show off affection from some truly special young people.
In the afternoon we had some down time followed by a meeting with MORCE Net, a professional development network for English language teachers. I am impressed with how much professional development they offer beyond the mandated training. A great group which has dynamic teachers.
After the meeting I had a well deserved quiet evening.
