Our first morning in Agadir was a whirlwind of meetings and classes at Le Defi private school. Brahiem teaches additional English classes at Le Defi two days a week. In the morning we toured the school with the principal Selema and the assistant principal her brother Zach. As is customary we had tea and chat with them before moving on
We had a round table discussion with one of Brahiem's advanced classes. We talked about student interests and found many similarities and a few differences between Moroccan and American interests. The students interests included: Football (soccer), surfing, basketball, dancing, hanging out with friends, music, and computers (programming and web design).
After lunch we had a lesson in Moroccan bureaucracy. Mike needed stamps for postcards and we wound up going to three post offices to try to get international postcard stamps !
In the evening we went for a stroll along the beach and water front. Agadir is a very developed city because lots of European tourists come here for the beach and the sun. Most of the town was destroyed by an earthquake in 1967 so most of the buildings are new. Along the water front we stopped for a coffee and to people watch. The people watching was a good way to wind down after a long day.
